Wine 101: Oregon Pinot Noirs

April 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In this class, we explore Oregon Pinot Noirs from eight different American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), all situated within the larger Willamette Valley AVA.

AVAs are formally-recognized areas identified for their unique geographic and winegrowing qualities that set them apart from one another. The Willamette Valley is host to more than 800 vineyards. Many of these are found within sub-AVAs, including Yamhill-Carlton, Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, Eola-Amity Hills, Laurelwood, Ribbon Ridge, Tualatin Hills, and McMinnville AVAs.

As a varietal, Pinot Noir shows the subtle nuance of where it was grown and produced more than any other varietal. As we cover each AVA’s geologic history, soil composition, microclimate, and other factors influencing winegrowing, we will also taste through the finished product of Pinot Noirs produced within each winegrowing region.

It’s guaranteed to be a fun and tasty class, lasting about an hour, with opportunities for special bottle prices to-go afterward! The cost is $45 and includes eight (8), 1-ounce pours of respected Pinot Noir wines.
