This class covers some of the major types of wines, blends, and varietals produced in Sicily, Italy. To prepare, you will want to source the following eight (8) kinds of Sicilian wines. These are available in the Pacific Northwest wine market. If you cannot find them, a suitable alternative is to source a variety of wines from Sicily, labeled as Terre Siciliane IGT, Sicilia DOP, Sicilia DOC, or from the respective DOC/DOCG regions as noted below:
- Pinot Grigio Terre Siciliane IGT
- Grillo Sicilia DOP
- Red blend from Dorilli Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico DOCG
- Nerello Cappuccio
- Nerello Mascalese
- Nero d’Avola
- Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc red blend
- Carignano red blend from Sardinia (just for fun)
